Method

Approach
An 'action learning' approach is employed during training. This allows participants to discover how they can improve their problem-solving skills. These newly acquired skills are then applied in actual practical problems that the participants brought with them to training.
Learning objectives
Training is aimed at developing methods and thinking skills in order to help resolve problems quickly and effectively. After training has been completed, participants should be able to:
  • Identify and use relevant evidence
  • Analyse problems and incidents
  • Identify root causes of problems when they are unknown or controversial
  • Select the best measures from a list of alternatives
  • Reduce risks through planning and by setting priorities

  • Apply all aspects of RCA and UCA to complex problems
  • Independently practice and apply their analytical and questioning skills
  • Further develop their own style of facilitation
  • Organise and lead an RCA / UCA session
  • Provide advice on the introduction and application of RCA / UCA within the organisation
